the flash cards are Ok November 29, 2007

The flash cards are Ok but the transliterated immersion environment is useless.
My own opinion is that pinyin tranliteration is only good for learning how to pronounce a word. It is not a viable way to learn Chinese.
There's a million xiang's and jiang's and shi's etc in Mandarin, the only way to know which is which is by using the characters.
In addition knowing some characters is essential in China. The Chinese know nothing of Pinyin so all knowledge in that area will be useless to you once you go there.
Had the immersion software been done with characters I would probably find it quite useful.
As it is I have got no use from the deluxe edition that I couldn't have gotten from the basic flash cards.
