Great power supply August 16, 2010 themurrayman Not much else to say....it works with the Dell Inspiron 5150. It was sent in a timely manner with no problems at all.
Works like Stock December 10, 2009 Ftec (Hartford,Ct) Charger worked as good as stock, Gets hot like the Dell one. Cables are shorter but not a big deal. Seems lighter than the Dell one. I thought I had a bad connector on the main board but the Dell adapter cable coiled and self destructed. Also bought a battery that made a big difference. 3 year battery life wasnt bad.
You really do get what you pay for! October 30, 2009 Myron A. Alston (Upper Marlboro, MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I just received the adapter two days ago and thought it was the actual thing. The first clue that I was wrong was that the actual Dell AC adapter is heavier than this one. The bottom panel is different. Here's the problem I have: The 1st night it charged the laptop to my satisfaction and I unplugged it and wrapped it up but when I went to use my laptop again the adapter didn't work. There was no green indicator light, it wouldn't charge the laptop. Now I have to spend money to send it back. I don't want a replacement unless it's the actual Dell product. Might as well spend the money for the real thing. Sorry guys!
Savin' $80 March 10, 2009 Victor W. Michnowicz (California) I purchased this AC adapter for my Dell XPS Gen2 when my old adapter stopped working properly. This adapter, which is not made by Dell, feels to be of slightly lower quality than the official Dell AC adapter. It is lighter and feels slightly cheaper. The cord is also not as long as the one that came with my adapter.
The biggest problem I find is that there is a constant hum whenever I am using my laptop with this adapter. The volume and tone of the hum also seems dependent on what you are doing on the computer at the time. For example, when the cursor blinks when typing a document the hum coming from the adapter will mimic the blinking of the cursor. It does this in XP, 7, and Ubuntu. It is quite weird and somewhat annoying. But for $80 less that what Dell is asking, it is a great deal.
cheap but acceptable January 10, 2009 Reader (Syracuse NY USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
cheaply made product but does work.
I had similar booting problems with my first one. Laptop claimed it was not 130w and would turn off. I contacted seller and recieved a replacement power supply which boots and works fine.
The powersuply is cheaply made. the plastic feals flimsy, the cords are short, the connection between the wall cable and the box is stiff and hard to connect, while the cable connection to the laptop is loose and slips out frequently (if laptop is moving ie on your lap). I also have some concern about the production quality since I replaced the first one.
the good thing about this power suply is that it is cheap. about 1/3 the price of a new dell one. It does what it is supposed to do. (atleast the 2nd one does)
I would suggest this to anyone that wants to save money on a power adapter. I was not impressed with the quality power adapter I got with my dell anyways. The wires broke during normal use, and I don't want to pay full price for another one that might do the same thing. (read lots of online complaints about it) So, the low quality doesn't bother me knowing the full price item will most likely break soon too.
One suggestion if you get this item is, you will need to check it immediately and make sure it works well incase you get a bad one and need to return it. That being said, I still think it is worth it.
