Description
The next step in the Play and Learn Chinese with Mei Mei video series has arrived! This new video challenges young language learners by inviting them to use their new words in real-life situations. Children of all ages will be happy to join in the once again, as they speak, sing and dance along with Mei Mei Hu and her young students. In using this volume, children will learn the vocabulary for extended family members and recreational activities, and then will apply that knowledge as they ask and reply to the questions: "Who is this?" and "What are you doing?" As they imitate Mei Mei and her students, they will easily learn to create dozens of their own simple phrases in the most enjoyable way. All of the material is presented simultaneously in English, Pinyin and simplified Chinese characters. Running time: Approx. 40 min.

Recommend, but in dvd format. March 26, 2007
I think we have all the Mei Mei dvd's, and I am so glad that they finally put them on dvd's. On the dvd's, you can pick out the section that you would like to review, etc.
There is also a Mei Mei cd with her songs on them. We downloaded the songs onto the kids music player, and they can now listen to it whenever they want. The songs are very catchy.
I cannot say enough good things about the Mei Mei series! My kids have definitely learned some Chinese from them.
Also, the Follow Jade dvd's are great. There are two, one going to Kindergarten, and one going to the market. Only thing is that she teaches you the name of the fruits, but doesn't teach you how to ask for it in a sentence. Hope she expands on that with more dvd's.
Plus, we also bought this gorgerous "ASIAN AMERICAN BERENGUER GIRL DOLL" from EBAY, and my daughter absolutely loves to play with the beautiful doll and watch her Chinese dvd's.

Well, like everyone else, our daughter has LOVED her Mei Mei video. We were so pleased to find that volumes 2 and 3 are out!Continuing in her gentle teaching style, Mei Mei again captures both children and adults alike. You learn without realizing that you are learning! Volume 2 is clearly more "polished" and has a higher production value than volume 1, but the fundamentals shine through. Mei Mei is a dedicated, delightful teacher for all. Congratulations on another excellent video!

If Volume one of Mei Mei's Play and Learn Chinese left you as it did my girls and I, yearning to learn more, then you MUST buy this video!I was SO happy when I learned that she had finished volume two especially since I had written to her many times asking IF and WHEN she would be doing another one since we Loved her teaching style. The children ( and parents) get caught up in the fun of the video and don't even realize that they are learning!!! If you want your child ( and yourself) to learn Mandarin then these are the videos for you ! There are others out there but I think you will find this one the most "Kid" friendly....I also love that she uses Asian and Caucasian children in the video since my family is now a blend of the two races. I think this has a positive impact on my daughters.My two and a half year old will ask to watch "her Mei Mei" all the time! She adores her! My 6 1/2 year old thinks she is Pretty!You will not be disappointed in these videos!

I was so happy when I found out that Mei Mei had made two follow-up videos to her very enjoyable first video. My daughters loooove this video. They sing the songs, imitate the dancing chilren, and correct my tones and pronunciation at every opportunity.Volumes 2&3 have the added bonus of displaying the pinyin for each word you're learning. In addition, Mei Mei and her students use a clever visual aid to indicate which tone should be used - very helpful for me. We have watched this video over and over again and have been able to use what we learned in other contexts. I wish we lived closer to Mei Mei so we could go to her class every week!

"Play and Learn Chinese with Mei Mei" (Volume 1) has been a favorite children's educational video for years, and now there are two more videos by Mei Mei Hu available! "Play and Learn Chinese" volumes 2 and 3 are equally as wonderful as the first. Volume 2 teaches the concepts "Who is this" and "What are you doing". Volume 3 teaches "Where is it" and "What is this". Both are excellent and are a must for anyone learning Mandarin Chinese, including adults.
